Rugby Football Union of Malawi (RFUM) has said the ongoing Superior Halaal National Sevens League has exposed talent that could help the country advance on the international level.<\/p>\n
The league kicked off last week with Saint Andrews Hooligans dominating Luchenza Red Ants in a 76-5 victory.<\/p>\n
Sports Complex Jaguars also made a good start when Majawa Duwe, Prince Chanje and Allster Momba guided them to a 36-0 win over Ndirande Impala at the College of Medicine Sports Complex.<\/p>\n
Holders, Blantyre Sports Club also had one over rookies, Black Cheetahs, when they grabbed an impressive 66-0 win.<\/p>\n
This past weekend, Lilongwe Rugby Club defeated Chinsapo 61-0 while Venom had a 36-0 victory over Hippos.<\/p>\n
Lilongwe Rugby Club lead the Central Region standings with a better goal difference over Venom with who they are tied at eight points after two matches.<\/p>\n
Chinsapo and Hippos are yet to get any points.<\/p>\n
In the South, Blantyre Sports Club and Sports Complex are engaged in an early run-in for the title as they tie at eight points after securing perfect records in their first two assignments.<\/p>\n
Saint Andrews and Luchenza tie at four points while Ndirande Impala and Cheetahs are yet to grab a point.<\/p>\n
One of the league\u2019s administrators, Cathrew Chimimba, said this year\u2019s competition had seen an improvement in performance of the teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are seeing good quality of play in most of the matches. It shows that most of the players are working hard. The competition is also competitive especially in the Southern Region, therefore, we look forward to an exciting league,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Teams that do well in the regional leagues would qualify for the national finals where the winner would get new sets of uniforms. The Sevens League is part of Superior Halaal Meats\u2019 K4 million sponsorship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
