The Flames travel problems are finally over after South Africa Football Association (Safa) donated a KIA Hyundai luxury coach to the Football Association of Malawi (Fam).<\/p>\n
The coach, which arrived in the country Monday, is one of the several buses that were used during the South Africa 2010 World Cup.<\/p>\n
Safa first announced about the decision to share the World Cup legacy about two years ago.<\/p>\n
Fam general secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, confirmed the development Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coach is part of World Cup legacy,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou remember our counterparts in South Africa promised to donate the coaches to Cosafa members.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nyirenda said the coach would be cleared by today to enable the Flames to use it when travelling to Zambia to play Chipolopolo in an international friendly this Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we are talking, it\u2019s with our clearing agent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the paper work has been done and it should be with us by Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coincidentally, Fam is also in the process of buying another luxury coach for the Flames.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda said Fam\u2019s plans were overtaken by events.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe process of buying a bus for the Flames is at procurement stage.\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
He however, could not say whether Fam would go on with the process or stop since the association has already received a donation of a luxury coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of now, what I know is that the executive committee made a decision to buy a luxury coach for the Flames,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will wait for the next executive committee meeting and find out if they will come back to tell us whether to proceed with the purchase of the bus or not.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fam intends to use K70 million bonus it got from Fifa last year to purchase the bus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
