After landing former Blantyre United forward Muhammad Sulumba last week, Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets have reportedly sealed a deal with Civo United to sign central defenders John Lanjesi and Emmanuel Zoya.<\/p>\n
Bullets had been in contact with Civo United to get the sturdy sweepers that were pegged at K4 million each.<\/p>\n
Bullets\u2019 vice-secretary, Kelvin Moyo, confirmed yesterday that the club\u2019s chairperson Sam Chilunga travelled to Lilongwe on Thursday to finalise talks with the Standard Bank Cup champions.<\/p>\n
Moyo said Bullets\u2019 executive committee would meet today to be briefed about the deal which has reportedly been sealed.<\/p>\n
He said the players had been offered three-year deals, just like Sulumba, and they would likely be unveiled this week alongside Dedza Young Soccer midfielder Amadu Makawa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are waiting to get the chairperson\u2019s report on his trip to Lilongwe, but I am pretty sure that we will unveil the new signings this week,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Moyo added that the club had long-term plans for the players hence the lengthy contracts offered.<\/p>\n
\u201cNormally we always want to keep the players that are in our plans. We want to keep them for a long time so that they can help us achieve our goals that include returning to Caf Champions League where we want to compete favourably,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Civo United general secretary Charles Mwenda\u2019s phone went unanswered on several occasions yesterday afternoon as The Sunday Times tried to get details about the deal.<\/p>\n
Lanjesi and Zoya\u2019s signing brings a lot of competition to the Bullets defence with Chikumbutso Kanyenda, Pilirani Zonda, Miracle Gabeya, Bashir Maunde, Sankhani Mkandawire and Yamikani Fodya waiting in the wings.<\/p>\n
Zoya would likely provide cover to the left-back position where Yamikani Fodya played every minute of the 2015 Super League season in a 3-5- 2 formation.<\/p>\n
