You feel so helpless and don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. When you reach that point, you have a choice to make; complain and whine more, or change. The sad reality is that the majority of people choose to simply complain and whine more. They temporarily feel good after sharing their misery with fellow non progressive friends.

The pity party might end with a dessert that goes, “that’s life my friend. Sometimes you make it, and sometimes you don’t”.

Another dessert option goes, “it is the will of God. There is something he wants us to learn from all this”. After assuring each other that we are together in their misery, the pity party closes for a while, only to resume the following day. Days turn into months, months become years, and before they know it, they have grown grey hair, having lived a life of misery, daily struggles and complaining. The end.

But wait a minute, it shouldn’t end like this, at least not for your life. You can change your life and experience the bright side that only a few determined experienced. You don’t have to resign to fate. You have a choice to make and you can turn your life around. Many have done it and you have the power to do likewise. It begins with disgust.

You must reach a point where enough is enough. The day you will look yourself into the mirror and demand more from yourself, will be the day that your life will take a U-turn.

Don’t get used to suffering and mediocrity. Tell yourself you deserve a better and richer life. I know in church when officiating weddings, the pastor makes you promise to stick together “for richer or for poorer”. Sadly, many men just hear the phrase, “for poorer” and dedicate the rest of the marriage time to manifest and live the poorer part of the vow. But I am here to challenge you that it is better building your marriage on the “for richer” part of the vow. Let your marriage be an adventure and not a daily struggle.

Water remains liquid until it reaches a boiling point, then it turns into vapour and escapes from the pot it was confined in.

If water does not reach boiling point, it will remain enslaved in the container it is held. Until you reach a boiling point, where you are very angry, sick and tired of being sick and tired in mediocrity, misery, suffering, poverty, perpetual sickness, perennial hunger, or whatever it is that is making your life miserable, change will be hard to come by. As long as you accept and justify your current failures, you will remain there.

There comes a time in a person’s life when the only missing ingredient to progress is positive anger. When a person is dissatisfied with the present, he or she has the motivation to move on to a higher or different level in life. Unless a person is angry with mediocrity, he or she will remain comfortable and tolerate mediocre standards.

When a student is sick and tired of failing in class, he or she will gather the courage to confront his or her challenges in learning. When a father is disgusted with living cheap, staying in substandard houses, failing to provide for his family, his mind gets ready to go an extra mile and searches for better ways and means to provide for his family.

Success is progress and this progress is a combination of many factors in life. If you want to progress in any situation, you must analyse your current situation, taking note of and feeling the pain you are experiencing. If for example, you stay in a house that is not comfortable, it is important that you allow yourself to feel and focus on the emotions of dissatisfaction. This helps your mind to be provoked enough to consider change. Once you come to a state of mind where you can’t take it anymore that, my friend, will be the day that turns your life around.

We all have been there, where you are down and done.
