{"id":18699,"date":"2016-02-13T08:49:38","date_gmt":"2016-02-13T06:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=18699"},"modified":"2016-02-13T09:57:14","modified_gmt":"2016-02-13T07:57:14","slug":"mzimba-secondary-school-students-still-sleeping-on-floor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/13\/mzimba-secondary-school-students-still-sleeping-on-floor\/","title":{"rendered":"Mzimba Secondary School students still sleeping on floor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi government has not honoured its promise to upgrade infrastructure at Mzimba Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Deputy Minister of Education, Vincent Ghambi, promised to solve the problems facing the school but nothing has been done so far.<\/p>\n<p>During the recent Golden Jubilee celebrations, it was observed that the students were still sleeping on the floor, there was shortage of classroom blocks and teachers\u2019 houses.<\/p>\n<p>The school head teacher, Timothy Kumwenda, said government was yet to fulfill the promise it made during the Golden Jubilee celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, we are arranging with Mzuzu Government Secondary School to be using their old beds,\u201d said Kumwenda.<\/p>\n<p>Mzimba Secondary School has 542 students who are accommodated in six hostels of which two are for girls.<\/p>\n<p>Each hostel can accommodate 80 beds and the school has only13 teachers\u2019 houses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi government has not honoured its promise to upgrade infrastructure at Mzimba Secondary School.
