\"police\"<\/a>The country\u2019s law enforcers are still waiting to get their 2015 leave grants which, according to some inside sources, they were supposed to receive by December last year.<\/p>\n

Sources within the MPS have since told The Daily Times <\/em>that top officials within the service are also mum on the matter, suggesting that they might not get their money.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo most of us this is unfortunate. We account for any penny that we have worked for and we want this money. In case you don\u2019t know, police officers are perhaps the least paid and when we have money somewhere, we need it,\u201d said the source who pleaded for anonymity.<\/p>\n

But National Police Publicist, Nicholas Gondwa, said officers should exercise patience as Treasury is giving out leave grants through their respective departments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s all I can tell you now; none of our officers has received the leave grants but it will soon be sorted out. For more you can contact Treasury,\u201d said Gondwa.<\/p>\n

Spokesperson in the Finance Ministry, Nations Msowoya, said the MPS, just like other government departments, is responsible for the leave grants of its employees.<\/p>\n

\u201cPayment of leave grants does not require special funding from Treasury. It is paid from monthly funding and each department makes its own arrangement in terms of sequencing payments.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, to avoid cases where leave grants are abused through double payments, there is a requirement to inform the Department of Human Resources Management and Development in the Office of the President and Cabinet,\u201d said Msowoya.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
