{"id":18520,"date":"2016-02-10T10:50:54","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T08:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=18520"},"modified":"2016-02-10T10:50:54","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T08:50:54","slug":"times-tv-to-feature-japanese-programmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/10\/times-tv-to-feature-japanese-programmes\/","title":{"rendered":"Times TV to feature Japanese programmes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Japan, through the Japan Foundation, has provided two television programmes to Times Television.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the broadcasting rights and production fee totalling 6.5 million Yen (K38 million) will be borne by Japan Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Shuichiro Nishioka, handed over the programmes Tuesday to Times Group Managing Director, Leonnard Chikadya, in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Nishioka said he appreciates the collaboration and cooperation between the Embassy and Times Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Embassy of Japan and Times Group have been collaborating and cooperating on daily basis. We appreciate your coverage of our events through both newspaper and television. I believe that these are the best mediums through which we can reach out to Malawian people. Therefore, your support and cooperation is greatly appreciated,\u201d Nishioka said.<\/p>\n<p>Japan Foundation is a cultural institution which promotes international cultural exchange. Nishioka said the exchange can be promoted by the programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Japan, we have a rich and diverse range of TV content which we can share with other countries. We believe that it is one of the most effective ways to show our culture. Through these TV programmes, we hope that we can introduce Japanese culture to the people of Malawi,\u201d Nishioka said.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Chikadya said the programmes will inspire Malawians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Times Group, we are very excited that through Times TV we have been able to partner with one of the leading development partners. These programmes cover various developmental issues which we believe can inspire a lot of Malawians, to begin to think like the Japanese, so that we can move the country forward,\u201d Chikadya said. The two programmes are \u2018Carnation\u2019 and an educational documentary, \u2018Science Zero\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Carnation is an inspiring story of a woman who blazed the trail to become a fashion designer in the early 20th Century.<\/p>\n<p>Science Zero features Japan\u2019s cutting-edge science and technology such as cars and high-speed trains.<\/p>\n<p>Times TV will start broadcasting the programmes this weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Japan, through the Japan Foundation, has provided two television programmes to Times Television.
