{"id":18503,"date":"2016-02-10T10:20:39","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T08:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=18503"},"modified":"2016-02-10T10:20:39","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T08:20:39","slug":"carlsberg-confirms-2016-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/10\/carlsberg-confirms-2016-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Carlsberg confirms 2016 Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carlsberg Malawi Limited has, in what is a relief to domestic top-flight football, confirmed the return of Carlsberg Cup\u2019s 2016 edition.<\/p>\n<p>With two months before the new season\u2019s kick-off, the brewers\u2019 senior brands manager, Twikale Chirwa, confirmed the cup on Friday through an e-mailed response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKindly note that the Carlsberg Cup is back in 2016, and more details will be announced at the official launch of the Carlsberg Cup 2016 edition,\u201d Chirwa said.<\/p>\n<p>Carlsberg\u2019s availability should calm the nerves after another sponsor, Standard Bank, caught the football fraternity flat-footed by withdrawing its K43 million national Knock-Out Cup on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) general secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, said the return of Presidential Initiative for Sports\u2019 Cup might atone for the Standard Bank Cup exit.<\/p>\n<p>Nyirenda said the Presidential Cup might run up to June and pave the way for Carlsberg Cup calendar.
