To fulfill Club Licencing requirements, Be Forward Wanderers have appointed Flames legend, Jack Chamangwana, as head coach to replace Elia Kananji, who is yet to attain a Caf coaching badge.<\/p>\n
The Nomads\u2019 general secretary, Mike Butao, confirmed on Saturday that Chamangwana\u2019s appointment paves the way for Kananji to undergo Caf C coaching courses in March.<\/p>\n
The former Blantyre United mentor is also earmarked for a Caf A Licence course in July to fulfill the requirements of having highly-qualified coaches in the Super League.<\/p>\n
\u201cChamangwana will double his roles as technical director and head coach. As Wanderers, we have always wanted to adhere to Club Licensing requirements. Therefore, we decided to appoint Chamangwana as head coach. His qualifications and experience will help the club achieve its objectives in 2016 season,\u201d Butao explained.<\/p>\n
He, however, said Kananji has been challenged to do well during the Caf courses if he is to retain his job as head coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he does not do well, he may eventually lose his job as head coach. We are hopeful that he will be successful and regain his post,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kananji has one year remaining on his two-year contract with Wanderers.<\/p>\n
Nomads\u2019 sworn rivals, Big Bullets have also demoted Mabvuto Lungu to assistant coach as he awaits the Caf coaching courses to upgrade.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Nomads are set to sign Japanese player Gent Nakamura in a deal that is being facilitated by their Japanese sponsors, Be Forward Limited.<\/p>\n
Butao said the player is 28-year-old Nakamura, who plays in either central forward position or attacking midfield.<\/p>\n
The Nomads\u2019 general secretary said the player\u2019s welfare would be handled by other sponsors and not the club, to avoid last season\u2019s controversies surrounding the signing of Cameroonian, Lionel Asu.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sponsors want to make their presence felt, that is why we are working on the deal to get the Japanese player. It will also provide an opportunity to our players to earn a chance of playing in Europe. We are keeping our fingers crossed and looking forward to the deal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Nomads have already roped in Ernest Tambe, Rafik Namwera, Peter Wadabwa and they are also discussing with DR Congo giants, TP Mazembe to sign former Flames captain, Joseph Kamwendo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
