{"id":18276,"date":"2016-02-06T07:56:27","date_gmt":"2016-02-06T05:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=18276"},"modified":"2016-02-06T07:56:27","modified_gmt":"2016-02-06T05:56:27","slug":"nomads-contestants-to-continue-paying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/02\/06\/nomads-contestants-to-continue-paying\/","title":{"rendered":"Nomads contestants to continue paying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Individuals gunning for positions in any committee at Be Forward Wanderers should, from now onwards, be prepared to pay fees for contesting, the Nomads board of trustees secretary, Patrick Jumbe, has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of the club\u2019s executive committee elections Saturday, Jumbe said the payment of the fees enables the poll organisers to meet some costs associated with the voting process.<\/p>\n<p>The board announced payment of the fees early last month when Wanderers supporters were preparing to elect office bearers for their committee.<\/p>\n<p>The supporters protested against the fees, but the trustees responded by slashing the fees. Chairpersons in the supporters committee&#8217;s race paid K25,000, down from K50,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not want to find ourselves in a situation where we fail to organise credible elections because we do not have adequate resources, so payments will continue until we begin to get separate funding for the process,\u201d Jumbe said.<\/p>\n<p>He also reiterated that no supporter will be allowed to vote at any of the club\u2019s elections without a valid identity card issued by the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are a big club and we must be seen to be leading the way. We want other clubs to learn from us. The club needs serious people to run its affairs,\u201d insisted Jumbe, adding that people should not expect the club\u2019s sponsor to fund the polls.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Jumbe has that six committee will run unopposed today since the constitutional requirement is that the club should have six committee members.<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson George Chamangwana and his general secretary, Mike Butao, have no challengers in today&#8217;s elections.<\/p>\n<p>This is also the case with candidates for the posts of second vice-chairperson and vice-treasurer, Allan Chuma and Chulu Mkamanga, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>But former Super League of Malawi vice-president, Gift Mkandawire, will battle it out with former Nomads general secretary, Chipiliro Mpinganjira, on the vice-chairpersonship after the incumbent, Alex Machila, declined to stand again.<\/p>\n<p>Vice-general secretary, Chris Kananji, will face Duncan Kamwendo and Vincent Patel.<\/p>\n<p>Vying for four seats in the club\u2019s executive committee are Onani Chaponda, Hendrix Chabwera, Robert Mdeza, Flora Mkusa- Nkhoma, Suzgo Ngwira and Duncan Jumbe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Individuals gunning for positions in any committee at Be Forward Wanderers should, from now onwards, be prepared to pay fees for contesting, the Nomads board of trustees secretary, Patrick Jumbe, has confirmed.
