I have not stopped listening to this song all day today. I truly believe that is God that inspired you to compose this song at a time such as this. I want to thank God for you and for the parents that brought you up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that this is a song that \u201cI truly believe everybody can relate to not only in Malawi but all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are passing through difficult times and we need songs that give us all hope. I have never paid attention to your music but today I went and searched for most of the songs you have sung.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou must know that you are extremely talented. Thank you for the switch to gospel music,\u201d said JB.<\/p>\n<p>Gwamba recorded the song in Blantyre and its music video was released on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The song according to Gwamba, had over 65,000 downloads in five days and about 10,000 YouTube views in less than 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The youthful musician, who recently announced that he was now born christian again and that he will no longer perform his secular songs, said yesterday that he was happy to receive a message from the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s good to receive such compliments because it motives you especially when it is coming from the former president,\u201d said Gwamba.<\/p>\n<p>The artist described \u2018Better\u2019 as a song of hope saying \u201cwe should always look to God for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former president went on to say that those that know her personally know that she grew up in a musical family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy father worked for the Malawi Police Band. He was a musician. He played the trombone. He introduced me to classical music at a very young age. Studied music and was sent by the Malawi government to Kneller Hall College of Music in England in 1972,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>JB said when her late father came back from England; he ended up teaching music at Kamuzu Academy in Kasungu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe taught me the difference between music and noise. I am very proud that our young Malawian musicians are talented both in secular and gospel,\u201d said the former president.<\/p>\n<p>She said she established the Gray Mtila Trophy to honour her father and that she run the competition for seven years and was amazed at the talent the country has.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like you Gwamba my father was also a composer. He wrote and sang songs such as \u2018Munandipeza Ndili Kwa Amai,\u2019 \u2018Jika and Mtila,\u2019 and \u2018Kumchilingano,\u2019 that has endured the taste of time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>JB also said she also has enjoyed songs by musicians such as Mitochi Brothers, Black Missionaries, Skeffa Chimoto, Ndirande Anglican Voices Thocco Katimba, Grace Chinga and Princess Chitsulo among others.<\/p>\n<p>Gwamba, who was voted Artist of the Year during the 2015 Urban Music Party held in Blantyre, has said he is thankful for the support he has received from the people since the song was released<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Joyce Banda has congratulated rapper Gwamba real name Duncan Zgambo for his latest gospel song titled \u2018Better,\u2019 featuring Emm Q and Tammy.
