Revived reggae group Wailing Brothers has finally released the dates for the launch of their 14-track album titled Unfinished Project.<\/p>\n
Wailing Brothers which is being spearheaded by brothers Takudziwani and Paul Chokani, who are also members of Black Missionaries, will first launch the album at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre on February 26 before moving to Lilongwe Golf Club on February 28.<\/p>\n
According to the poster, the launch in Blantyre will be hosted by DJ Crystal and will be spiced up by performances from Lucius Banda and Zembani Band, Toza Matafale, Moda Fumulani, QueenFyah and Black Syndicate.<\/p>\n
In Lilongwe, the launch will be hosted by DJ Mkombezi with Skeffa Chimoto and Real Sounds, Haxi Momba, Toza and Moda Fumulani set to spice up the show.<\/p>\n
Asked why they did not include Black Missionaries on the line-up, Takudziwani said: \u201cWe reached out to every artist to help us and be part of this launch, some responded while others did not come back but since we were running against time, we had to do with the ones we had and we would like to thank the other artists for coming up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Black Missionaries lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said yesterday that he was aware of the Wailing Brothers\u2019 launch and that they received an invitation from their manager Chigo Gondwe Chokani, who is a wife to Taku. \u201cYes we received an invitation to perform at the launch but then we looked at a lot of things, one our colleagues as Wailing Brothers they have a full band and as for us we also rely on Taku and Paul who are part of us so we have been in a fix and we were still looking at this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
With several stories coming out following the revival of Wailing Brothers with some saying they have broken up with Black Missionaries, Takudziwani maintained that there was no break up and that they were one family.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all doing the same things only that we are doing it differently. As I said our main focus is to bring variety and again to work with upcoming artists. We already started this and it\u2019s just a continuation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Recently there was also speculation that Takudziwani and Paul had been \u2018fired\u2019 by Anjiru following their involvement with Wailing Brothers but both parties denied this.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know where these stories came from but there is nothing like cracks, as Wailing Brothers we are just doing things differently just complementing otherwise people can say whatever they want,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Wailing Brothers will be launching their album having held their first performance in November last year in Mzuzu.<\/p>\n
The group which has already made strides dropping a music video for one of the songs in the album \u2018Everything is Gonna Be Alright,\u2019 said yesterday that they are ready and on a mission which is aimed at propelling reggae music.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have worked hard and now everything is ready and we can\u2019t wait to get on stage. As we have been we are on a mission of uplifting reggae music and we want to work with upcoming musicians as well,\u201d said Takudziwani.<\/p>\n
Unfinished Project was recorded at JK and Green Arts Studios in Blantyre and includes songs such as \u2018Mwatero Ndinu,\u2019 \u2018Afri-tune,\u2019 \u2018Dzuka,\u2019 \u2018I Love My Guitar,\u2019 \u2018Sindizakusiya,\u2019 and \u2018Ndikudikira.\u2019 \u201cIt\u2019s an album which has mature songs with our own unique reggae style and we are tackling a lot of issues with the main focus being love, \u201csaid drummer Paul.<\/p>\n
Apart from the Chokani brothers, the other members of the Wailing Brothers are Chikumbutso Simbi, who is the lead vocalist, Drag (keyboardist), Harold Kainja (keyboards), Ephraim Chambota(bassist) and Grant Soko (bassist).<\/p>\n
