Mobile service provider TNM says members of the public can now start voting for their favourite application in the ongoing Smart Challenge Competition which will see winners flying to Silicon Valley in the United States of America (USA).<\/p>\n
Launched on October 5, 2015 the TNM Smart Challenge gives students, pupils and their communities a platform to showcase innovation in mobile application development.<\/p>\n
TNM marketing manager Madalitso Jonazi said submission of entries has so far been completed and 30 entries have made the final list which enters the voting phase.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public can now start voting for their favorite application in different categories by sending a participant\u2019s code to 575 or online by visiting our website, smartchallenge.tnm.co.mw,\u201d said Jonazi.<\/p>\n
Jonazi said this being the first of its kind in Malawi, TNM is satisfied with entries so far received.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe response has been encouraging as the competition received participation in all the three categories Smart Kid for pupils, Smart Student for scholars in tertiary education and Smart Community for their institutions,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
He said being a Malawian company, TNM is through the Smart Challenge competition geared at exposing hidden talent amongst the youth in as far as the development of ICT is concerned.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a tel ecommun i ca tions company, we wish to create an enabling environment for innovations in ICT. It is our continuous hope that this competition becomes the trendsetter for various ICT innovations for youth of the country,\u201d Jonazi emphasized.<\/p>\n
Through this competition, winners will travel to USA, Silicon Valley where they will tour Facebook, Google, Apple and Stanford University. Others will win Smart devices and computers for a lab.<\/p>\n
Jonazi called on the public to participate in the voting process so that the winning participant should really reflect the will of the people. The public is urged to look at an application that proves socially most relevant.<\/p>\n
The voting process runs up to February 28, 2016.<\/p>\n
TNM has engaged MHub, Facebook, Google, Opera Software and IBM as technology partners for this initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
