Malawi national football team, the Flames\u2019 technical panel has down-played Guinea\u2019s impressive performance at the on-going African Nations Championship (Chan) in Rwanda.<\/p>\n
Flames team manager, Clement Kafwafwa, said it was possible to beat the West Africans at their backyard on March 23 in the Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier for Group L.<\/p>\n
Kafwafwa said the panel was monitoring Guinea and with good preparations, the Flames can beat the West Africans.<\/p>\n
The former Flames defender said they will find a formula to score an early goal to frustrate their opponents.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, they are doing fine, but it is not the same squad that will play against us. Definitely, they will invite their foreign-based players, so the pattern of play will definitely change. We will be going into camp soon, and we be looking at all areas needed to be rectified,\u201d Kafwafwa said.<\/p>\n
Malawi, ranked third in the group, host the bottom-placed Guinea within a week after the away leg. Leaders, Swaziland and second-placed Zimbabwe—who stunned the Flames 2-1 last June—have four points each.<\/p>\n
At Chan in Rwanda, Guinea finished on second position in group C with five points when they drew two-all against Tunisia and Niger respectively, then beat Nigeria 1-0 to reach the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
