{"id":17550,"date":"2016-01-26T08:43:49","date_gmt":"2016-01-26T06:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=17550"},"modified":"2016-01-26T08:43:49","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T06:43:49","slug":"mixed-fortunes-for-malawi-teams-in-tanzania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/01\/26\/mixed-fortunes-for-malawi-teams-in-tanzania\/","title":{"rendered":"Mixed fortunes for Malawi teams in Tanzania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Malawian teams Monday returned from Tanzania where they played four friendly games in Dar Es Salaam over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Local national champions, Bricks of Blantyre and up-and-coming Lilongwe side, Brave Hearts, left for the East African nation on Friday and played the friendly games on Saturday and on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The trip was sponsored by G.Y. Import and Export, whose managing director, Griffin Kaluwa, accompanied the teams.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Brave Hearts lost to West Zone 34-37 while Bricks went down 45-49 to East Zone.<\/p>\n<p>The following day, Brave Hearts upped the tempo to beat one of Tanzania Basketball League\u2019s top-three teams, Jogoo 47-41. Bricks lost again in the second game, 46-34 to West Zone III.<\/p>\n<p>Kaluwa conceded defeat in the three games, but said officiation in Saturday\u2019s games was biased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe played like our lives depended on it. I have never seen the two teams play like this before. But the Tanzanian referees were heavily-biased towards their teams. Sad,\u201d commented Kalua in a Whatsapp message, while commending Brave Hearts for putting up one of their best performances on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The trip was part of Kalua\u2019s pledge that he would fly the national championships to Tanzania by Fast Jet.
