Lilongwe\u2013based musician Skeffa Chimoto has revealed that he will release a new album this year.<\/p>\n
The musician decorated as the \u2018Jamming Machine,\u2019 in the music circles for his energetic live acts said he was at an advanced stage working on the new songs but could not be drawn to say when the album would be ready.<\/p>\n
Skeffa joins several other artists who have come out to announce that they are releasing new albums this year and they include Anthony \u2018Mr Cool\u2019 Makondetsa and Ndirande Anglican Voices.<\/p>\n
Last year reggae group Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda popularly known as Soldier came up with their albums Kuimba 10 <\/em>and Thank You <\/em>respectively.<\/p>\n Skeffa said he was not in a hurry to have the songs on the ground as he is working so hard to produce quality songs.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore I drop the album, I will release singles and so people should just be on the lookout otherwise I thank God for this special talent,\u201d said the \u2018Nabola Moyo\u2019 star.<\/p>\n His previous album Chinamuluma Chakuda <\/em>did well on the market and received an overwhelming response.<\/p>\n Skeffa described the year 2015 as a success, saying apart from performing in several platforms here and outside the country, he received recognitions.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a good year because some organisations gave me awards for playing roles in disseminating different messages. Again we managed to perform in different festivals in the country but also performed outside the country,\u201d said the musician.<\/p>\n Skeffa also said that the creative industry is making progress amidst challenges.<\/p>\n \u201cArtists are working hard although we need to do more, on the music front, musicians got the exposure and this was even cemented by the presence of international musicians. But more still needs to be done because in some instances when international artists come they do not have the chance of interacting with them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Skeffa also bemoaned piracy which he said has now come to stay and that artists were now getting used.<\/p>\n \u201cPiracy has now grown wings and as artists it\u2019s no longer a new phenomenon. It\u2019s killing us but with technology things are hard but we will surely find the solution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Meanwhile there have been rumours circulating in the country linking the musician to \u2018satanic\u2019 works.<\/p>\n But Skeffa said yesterday that people have always created different stories which he said are not true.<\/p>\n \u201cI have just heard about the stories but they are not true, I don\u2019t know where people create all these stories which are aimed at tarnishing my image. Anyway I cannot say much rather than ignoring this,\u201d said the musician.<\/p>\n He said people have created several stories with others saying his marriage has broken up and that some have gone on to spread news that he was \u2018dead.\u2019<\/p>\n Skeffa recently also distanced himself from information which came out that he would be performing in Lusaka, Zambia.<\/p>\n The musician posted on his Facebook account that he had no concert in Lusaka and warned his fans to be careful.<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t been consulted by anyone and I don\u2019t know anything about the Lusaka show.
