This time around we are targeting teams from Lilongwe because we don’t want to reach the scenario we had with Wizards FC. We are in a process to have our own land and at least build a small stadium that the team can use to train and play games. Any team can write a proposal and we will consider the best proposal. The whole intention is that we don’t want to move out of the football circle. So we will take one team on board,” said Mwenechanya.

On Thursday, Fisd and Wizards parted ways and it is likely that one team that plays in the Chipiku Central Region Football League will win the sponsorship as all Super League teams from the centre are already sponsored.

Blue Eagles are sponsored by the Malawi Police Service, Silver Strikers are under the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Civo United are well looked after by the Government while Epac is owned by Lilongwe businessman Dean Josiah. Newly-promoted side Dwangwa United will be sponsored by officials of Illovo Sugar Company based in Nkhotakota.

After parting ways with TNM Super League relegated side Wizards FC, Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Development (Fisd) directors have come out openly saying they will sponsor any team from the Central Region this time around once they are convinced with their proposals.
