{"id":15766,"date":"2016-01-05T09:28:56","date_gmt":"2016-01-05T07:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=15766"},"modified":"2016-01-05T09:28:56","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T07:28:56","slug":"malawi-airlines-boosts-ethiopian-links","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/01\/05\/malawi-airlines-boosts-ethiopian-links\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Airlines boosts Ethiopian links"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ethiopian Airlines says its strategic partnerships with Malawian Airlines and Asky Airlines in Togo have played a vital role in availing convenient connections, as well as increasing frequencies to support air travel growth in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Ethiopian Airlines group chief executive officer, Tewolde Gebremariam, told Ethiopia\u2019s The Financial newspaper that the partnerships with the airlines in Malawi and Togo have made it possible for the airline to acquire a new fleet of Bombadier Q400 jets.<\/p>\n<p>He said this in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on December 29, 2015 when he announced that the airline has signed a firm purchase agreement with Bombardier Commercial Aircraft of Brazil for two additional Q400 turboprop airliners that will bring Ethiopian Airlines\u2019 Q400 aircraft fleet to a total of 19 \u2013 the largest total fleet in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the list price of the Q400 aircraft, the transaction is valued at approximately US$63 million, according to Ethiopian Airlines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are continuously working to have the right fleet with agility, optimal range, load and passenger comfort which is critical for us to keep our leadership position in the market. The Q400 aircraft continues to be an integral part of our expansion strategy in Africa,\u201d Gebremariam said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Q400 aircraft is also a core fleet to our domestic and regional destinations, thereby ensuring excellent passenger experience, operational flexibility and economics,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ethiopian Airlines has won Airline Reliability Performance Awards from Bombardier for five years in a row.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ethiopian Airlines says its strategic partnerships with Malawian Airlines and Asky Airlines in Togo have played a vital role in availing convenient connections, as well as increasing frequencies to support air travel growth in Africa.
