Relegated TNM Super League outfit, Dedza Young Soccer have insisted that, until they get Super League of Malawi (Sulom) official communication, the team still considers itself not booted out of the top-flight league.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s general secretary, Harold Mmora, said the fact that Sulom invited the team to a hearing in Lilongwe last week means that they are still a member of the elite league.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose that are referring to us as a relegated side are making a mistake. We do not have any communication to that effect. So, until we are officially communicated to by Sulom on our status in the Super League, we still count ourselves as a Super League side,\u201d Mmora said.<\/p>\n
He observed that the 2015 soccer season was not yet over, hence decisions could be made contrary to what people think and believe.<\/p>\n
Mmora could be basing his argument on a resolution made last year at a Sulom extraordinary general meeting that the number of teams in the league be increased from the current 15 to 16.<\/p>\n
The increase was aimed at ensuring the balancing of fixtures.<\/p>\n
On the future of his team, Mmora said all was well and players, officials and supporters are meeting normally.<\/p>\n
Dedza Young Soccer strongly supported the resolution which was left in the hands of Sulom\u2019s Review Committee to decide on the implementation date.<\/p>\n
However, Sulom general secretary, Williams Banda, insisted that rules and regulations of the league provide that three teams will be relegated at the end of each season and nothing had changed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe present scenario is that we have not made any changes to our statutes. Three teams are going and another three will take up their places. If there will be any changes to this arrangement, we will announce accordingly,\u201d Banda said.<\/p>\n
Dedza Young Soccer is the first team from Dedza to play in the Super League and failed to make the grade in its maiden appearance.<\/p>\n
