It tampers with the originality of God’s truth and reduces it to man made philosophy devoid of any power to transform lives.

The temptation for Preachers to tweak the gospel is more real now than ever before.

People want to hear what they want to hear. We don’t want to hear what God wants us to hear. As competition for Church membership intensifies, some preachers have resorted to repackaging the gospel. The gospel is not an ordinary message. It is the good news.

The news of life. As sinners, we had no hope. We inherited sin from Adam and Eve and God’s wrath was pointed towards us. We were dead in sin and doomed for eternity. But whilst we were still sinners Christ dies for us! (Romans 5:8) In the midst of God’s wrath, a life line was given unto us through Christ Jesus – that is the gospel!

God doesn’t need our marketing strategies to make the gospel popular and likeable.

The gospel is not designed to soothe our egos and attract multitudes. The gospel is the message of truth, the truth that sinners loathe!

A preacher’s job is to faithfully relay God’s word to His people with no additions or subtractions. It is a solemn call that deserves uttermost obedience.

It is difficult for a sinner to appreciate the love of God if they don’t understand the wrath of God. In the same vein, it is difficult for a sinner to appreciate good news if they don’t know what the bad news is all about. Unfortunately, very few preachers are willing to share about the wrath of God and the coming judgement against sin. We all want to preach the popular message of God’s favor on people!

A sinful man has no hunger for salvation. His desire is to live in sin and please himself.

To gratify the cravings of flesh and party in the wildness of pleasure. It is therefore not surprising that Jesus made it very clear that nobody can come to God unless the Father calls him.” No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6 vs. 44

True Gospel preaching will be foolishness to every culture! The scripture in Romans 1 vs. 18 says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

When someone tells you things you can do to go to heaven know that you are being offered repackaged gospel.

When someone tells you that by keeping the law you will enter heaven just know that you are being offered the raw deal.

When someone tells you that all you need is to make some kind of monetary payment to make God happy just know that you are being offered dangerous dose of false doctrine.

There is no amount of works that will save mankind (Ephesians 2 vs. 8-9). There is no amount of good works that will make us attractive in God’s sight. (Isaiah 64:6) We don’t need to change the gospel truth to make people cry with our sermons. We don’t need to use flowery power point presentations to make that man walk down the isle in tears of repentance. We just have to faithfully deliver what is God’s truth. He does the rest.

We can be creative, we can be persuasive,we can be eloquent but let us never forget that it is God’s work not ours. Let us surrender to his authority and let him be God.

“When I came to you, my brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified”. 1 Corinthians 2 vs. 1-2.

Lets keep the gospel as it is….

Gospel repackaging is a dangerous trade.
