Chrich Multipurpose Gardens in Blantyre Friday hosts what it dubs a Full Family Fun featuring a variety of activities.<\/p>\n
The place is slowly turning into a hub of entertainment and according to Events Manager Wales Chakukuma, people should brace for the best during the Full Family Fun.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have organised this event to bring families together and celebrate the New Year 2016. It\u2019s a special event which will start in the morning until late on in the afternoon. Apart from enjoying different activities, this will be the time for families to interact,\u201d said Chakukuma.<\/p>\n
He said in most cases families do not have time to be together and sample different activities and that this was a chance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had shows in different places where parents have failed to attend together with their children because of the environment and so this Family Fun provides this chance and again this is part of celebrating the New Year 2016,\u201d said Chakukuma.<\/p>\n
He said apart from music performances, there will also be traditional games for adults and children.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is why we are calling it a Family Fun because apart from enjoying performances, people will also participate in different games. We have games such as bawo, chess and many others and then children will also have their own fun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Some of the activities children are set to enjoy include jumping castle and face painting.<\/p>\n
He said during the event, people will also have a chance to sample traditional food which will be on sale.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have traditional food such as Zitumbuwa, Thobwa and many others which people do not frequently eat in their homes and so this will be the opportunity. For those who will not love traditional food then they need not worry as there will also be other foods such as chips,\u201d said Chakukuma.<\/p>\n
In the afternoon, people will be treated to music performances from among others Ndirande Anglican Voices which has since revealed that they are set to release their new album.<\/p>\n
The group\u2019s lead vocalist Dennis Kalimbe hailed Chrichi Gardens for organising this event which he said will give them a chance to perform for a long time and satisfy the audience.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn most of the shows we have performed, we do not have the time to dish out more songs simply because the concerts have a huge line-up but this one it\u2019s a different story. We are very much ready and we are excited because we will also be performing for the first time in the year 2016,\u201d said Kalimbe.<\/p>\n
He said they are looking forward to such concerts in 2016.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need such concerts as artists, concerts which would challenge you to give out more to the audience. Concerts which demands that you put in extra gear in your performance and we hope Chrichi Gardens will continue with this trend,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chakukuma said as Chrich Gardens their aim is to help uplift the creative industry in the country and that they also want through the venue to offer a platform where artists can tell their stories to the people.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn most cases artists do not have that time to interact with the audience fully, we want through concerts to give a chance to them to tell their stories. So there is more coming in 2016, we are also planning to be holding birthday concerts for artists and so people should just watch the space,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chrichi Gardens last year also organised a concert featuring youthful musicians Patience Namadingo and Faith Mussa which impressed the audience.<\/p>\n
The concert saw Mussa performing for a longer period so too Namadingo before closing the set with a collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will also be holding weekly shows targeting the corporate world, we want the private sector to take an interest in supporting our artists because in that way they will be motivating them to give it their all,\u201d said Chakukuma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
