We had strikers like Speedlink [Jones Nkhwazi], Ganizani Malunga and Aggrey Kanyenda. It was impossible to get a Golden Boot Award with 14 only. That is poor finishing. That is indeed lack of quality. Malawi football is going down,” wrote the ex-Cologne reserve team forward.

Chitsulo, who claimed to have scored a minimum of 19 per season while at Civo, also in an interview cited Russel Mwafulirwa and Esau Kanyenda as top strikers of his era, adding “14 goals was just for half a season.”

Be Forward Wanderers legend, Bob Mpinganjira, probably the only Super League striker to score eight in a game, yesterday shared Chitsulo’s opinion.

“During my time, I was surrounded by players who used to read my runs well. Scoring is a process. The ball goes through several people. Current strikers lack the confidence and hunger.
