No wonder, he made it to the national team set-up.

Defenders:

Yamikani Fodya

If there is a consistent performer in the Super League, then it is the Bullets left-back. He has featured in all Bullets’ league matches and he is the league’s highest scoring defender with five goals—all from free-kicks. He has also provided assists, while balancing his defensive and attacking duties.

Stanley Sanudi

The Wanderers right-back has also settled well at the Lali Lubani Road after making a switch from Azam Tigers. Like Fodya, he has featured for the Nomads consistently, defending well and attacking. His style of play is similar to that of former German captain Philip Lahm. Sanudi has also settled well in the national team after being handed a debut by coach Ernest Mtawali.

Chisomo Mpachika

The Dedza Young Soccer defender is a surprise inclusion considering that his side conceded the most goals in the league—48 in 28 matches on their way down to the Chipiku Premier Division. The central defender was, however, exceptional for the rookies as he showed confidence in possession and good reading of the game. He is a major transfer target for big clubs, including champions Bullets.

Paul Ndlovu

Defenders are, first of all, expected to defend. To defend, having right physical attributes is not a matter of debate. In this respect, Ndlovu has an edge over equally-good Wanderers’ defender, Kondwani Lufeyo. Ndlovu knows just how to deal with any ball thrown at the Mafco defence—whether long, short, low or high. He is also able to build up play from the back.

Midfielders

Yamikani Chester

The Azam Tigers midfielder fulfilled his incipient talent this season. He dribbled effortlessly, had an eye for goal and his passes were invariably intricate. Bullets and Wanderers have made him their major transfer target. He, however, failed to transfer club form to the Flames. He needs to work on his fitness.

Nelson Kangunje

The Civo United attacking midfielder is the pictogram of how to simplify football. He is confident in possession and has the ability to grab the game by the scruff of its neck. Civo failed to score a goal in their first eight matches of the season, but Kangunje led their revival in the second round by netting 10 goals to make him the highest scoring midfielder in the league. He capped an impressive season by scoring the winning goal in the Standard Bank Cup final against Wanderers. However, he is yet to reproduce his form for Flames.

Kelvin Thotho

The Epac FC left winger is probably the most underrated player in the league. He is good in attack, but he does not overlook his defensive duties as he tracks back. His set-pieces are excellent and he is among the reasons Epac escaped the drop.

Sam Gunda

The midfield would be incomplete without a player doing all the dirty work. The Silver Strikers midfielder fits in this role as he was a shining star in an otherwise Silver’s dark season. Gunda is not only good at ball-winning, but also in creating opportunities . His excellent strike against Bullets on the opening day of the season clearly signified his eye for goal.

Strikers:

Innocent Bokosi

After all is said and done, strikers are about scoring. The statistics clearly say Bokosi is no doubt the striker of the season. As of today, he leads with 14 goals in 28 matches. With eight Red Lions players suspended for indiscipline, Bokosi inspired Lions this season.

Chiukepo Msowoya

The Bullets forward has 13 goals the second highest league going into tomorrow’s game. Whether scoring from overhead kicks, volleys, taps-ins and long range bullets, Msowoya formed a formidable partnership with Jaffalie Chande.

Msowoya has a slight edge over Chande because the big forward also proved himself in the national team to emerge as this year’s joint Flames top scorer with four goals.

Reserves:

Juma Chikwenga (Moyale), Lufeyo (Wanderers), Jaffalie Chande (Bullets), John Banda (Blue Eagles), Clifton Kankhuni (Tigers) Isaac Kaliati (Wanderers), Dan Msimuko (Civo), Amadu Makawa (Dedza) and Wacheta Mwenifumbo (Mzuni).

The 2015 TNM Super League, which ends tomorrow, provided an edge-of-the seat action—-Big Bullets successfully defended the title, three teams, including mesmerising Fisd Wizards, were shown the exit door, tackles flew and goals flowed.
