Mist surrounds the future of Dedza Young Soccer, barely days after the team was relegated from the TNM Super League.<\/p>\n
Dedza dropped to the Chipiku Premier Division after losing 2-1 to Epac at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.<\/p>\n
A senior player, who opted for anonymity, said after the loss to Epac, all the players were forced to surrender club equipment, including boots, uniforms and tracksuits.<\/p>\n
He also said all the players, who were staying at the club\u2019s hostel, were also forced to leave.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the way our officials reacted to the loss was not good. They acted as if we did not put up a fight. The behaviour was strange and we don\u2019t know what will happen because the club owes us a lot of money in game bonuses and signing-on fees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dedza chairperson, Blessings Shaba, dismissed the players\u2019 claims.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club will meet soon to discuss what went wrong in the Super League and map the way forward the club,\u201d Shaba said.<\/p>\n
Soon after relegation, Dedza coach, Millias Pofela, said he was optimistic that the majority of his players would find it easy to join other Super League teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s sad that we are going back to the Chipiku League but I believe that most of my players will attract interest from big teams because they are good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fletcher Bandawe, Chisomo Mpachika, Amadu Makawa and Ferguson Mtondo were some impressive players for Dedza this season.<\/p>\n
Most local teams disband after relegation due to various reasons. Mponela United, Eagles Strikers and Ekwendeni Medicals disbanded after being demoted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
