{"id":14944,"date":"2015-12-23T09:38:33","date_gmt":"2015-12-23T07:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=14944"},"modified":"2015-12-23T09:38:33","modified_gmt":"2015-12-23T07:38:33","slug":"fam-for-future-hivaids-free-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/23\/fam-for-future-hivaids-free-football\/","title":{"rendered":"Fam for future HIV\/Aids-free football"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) says it will strive to achieve an HIV and Aids-free future football generation by spreading the Unaids Protect the Goal campaign to all corners of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Fam first vice-president, James Mwenda, made the remarks when he officially opened a three-day Protect the Goal Football and HIV coaching clinic at Africa Bible College in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have lost great players at a younger age, administrators, and referees due to lack of information. Much as Fam has the main mandate to develop, administer, organise and grow the game, we must protect it as well from the HIV and Aids pandemic,\u201d Mwenda said.<\/p>\n<p>Mwenda thanked Unaids, Unicef, Nac and Malawi government for providing technical and financial support towards the project.<\/p>\n<p>This is a second course following the one held in Thyolo for Southern Region. Facilitator captain John Kaputa, who is Fam technical director, said the courses will also help grow the country\u2019s youth coaches base.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us to develop the game, we need a lot of expert coaching at grassroots level. We have failed to produce good players because we don\u2019t have enough coaches at developmental level.
