We will start building in January now that some funds are in. We had to have enough funds to start. But I assure people that [come] January we are moving on with that,” said Mjumira.

With some quarters asking whether Nanzikambe’s movement from Naperi was the end of their operations, Mjumira said by mid March, the space in Chimwankhunda will be functioning.

“You know there is also a process to do these things and as an organisation, we were trying not to do things in short cut,” he said.

In the absence of a proper venue, Nanzikambe Arts has been holding its performances in other venues.

The theatre group also recently saw one of its members Misheck Mzumara join Mzuzu University where he is currently teaching drama.

“It’s true Misheck Mzumara is now with Mzuzu University but he is still part of us.
