Pupil at Monjo Primary School in Chikwawa can breathe a sigh of relief following the rehabilitation of the school block whose roof was blown off during the January, 2015 disaster.<\/p>\n
The development forced the school authorities to relocate some pupils to other nearby schools which are at least five kilometres away.<\/p>\n
Pagat Trust of Paul and Mary Gatrell through Mary\u2019s Meals foundation \u2014 which is implementing the school feeding programme at the institution \u2014pumped in K4 million for the renovation of the school block.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always been willing to help others who are in need. I have been working with Mary\u2019s Meals and I am sponsoring five feeding centres which Mary\u2019s Meals is working in but I do emphasise that I help people or institutions that uplift themselves first,\u201d Gatrell said.<\/p>\n
He advised the pupils to make good use of the opportunities that Mary\u2019s Meals is bringing at their institution.<\/p>\n
Head teacher of Monjo Primary, Cecilia Ngabu hailed Pagat Trust for its collaboration with Mary\u2019s Meals for rehabilitating the damaged school block.<\/p>\n
She said the initiative has brought back children who dropped out of school because of lack of shelter.<\/p>\n
She also called for further support from other well wishers to consider constructing two more classrooms to carter for standard 1 and 2 pupils who are still learning under trees.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have six classes here with only four classroom blocks, that means not all pupils learn in a classroom and that becomes a challenge when it\u2019s raining or when it is too sunny, pupils are mostly uncomfortable, so we need more classroom blocks, if more well wishers will come to our rescue we will appreciate it,\u201d said Ngabu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
