{"id":13979,"date":"2015-12-12T07:08:06","date_gmt":"2015-12-12T05:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13979"},"modified":"2015-12-12T07:08:06","modified_gmt":"2015-12-12T05:08:06","slug":"ossed-malawi-for-humps-on-dowa-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/12\/ossed-malawi-for-humps-on-dowa-road\/","title":{"rendered":"OSSED Malawi for humps on Dowa road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A local non-governmental organisation in Dowa district, OSSED Malawi, has asked the National Roads Authority (NRA) to construct a rumble surface and hump at Mbalame Primary School to control over speeding vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The primary school is located along the Lumbadzi-Dowa-Chezi Road.<\/p>\n<p>The road, which is under construction, is frequently used by motorists driving to and from Dowa Boma.<\/p>\n<p>OSSED Malawi programme manager, Thotho Chimbiya, said the place is prone to accidents as learners from both primary and secondary schools cross the road to fetch water at a nearby borehole.<\/p>\n<p>OSSED Malawi, which is implementing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash) programmes in the district, said the area needs rumble surfaces or humps.<\/p>\n<p>The programme manager also lamented the situation at Aimala Ndiwo Primary School, situated along the M1 Lilongwe-Kasungu Road.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Planning and Development (DPD) for Dowa District Council, Emmanuel Bulukutu, asked the National Road Safety Council of Malawi to teach the school going children road safety tips.<\/p>\n<p>Government is constructing the Lumbadzi- Dowa-Chezi Road as part of a government initiative launched in 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A local non-governmental organisation in Dowa district, OSSED Malawi, has asked the National Roads Authority (NRA) to construct a rumble surface and hump at Mbalame Primary School to control over speeding vehicles.
