{"id":13894,"date":"2015-12-11T08:31:47","date_gmt":"2015-12-11T06:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13894"},"modified":"2015-12-11T08:31:47","modified_gmt":"2015-12-11T06:31:47","slug":"government-commits-to-buy-malawian-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/11\/government-commits-to-buy-malawian-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Government commits to \u2018Buy Malawian\u2019 campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister\u00a0of Industry and Trade, Joseph Mwanamvekha, has said Malawi government will soon launch a policy on the Buy Malawian Campaign as one way of encouraging Malawians to buy locally produced goods.<\/p>\n<p>Mwanamvekha said this at the launch of two cement products, Thanthwe and Buildplast by Shayona Cement Company in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Shayona\u2019s Managing Director Jitendra Patel said despite the huge investments the company has made towards cement manufacturing, the influx of foreign cement brands has distorted the market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are currently affected by the imports of cement but this will not stop us from investing because we still have hope in the market,\u201d said Patel.<\/p>\n<p>Mwanamvekha said a draft policy will soon be presented to Cabinet outlining principles that will guide the Buy Malawian Campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will put measures in place to support local producers.
