Former Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative Natasha Tonthola last weekend through her Mama Africa Foundation Trus t in conjunct ion with Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare launched an initiative known as Project Dignity.<\/p>\n
The former housemate who represented the country at the reality show alongside Fatima Nkata but were evicted early said Project Dignity is aimed at keeping girls in school by producing and providing sanitary wear.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am happy that the launch went on well and was a success. We are looking forward to doing more and I would like to thank the minister for being part of the launch,\u201d said Natasha nicknamed Mama Africa.<\/p>\n
She said the launch was part of raising awareness, advocate and also fundraise for sanitary pads for girls to remain in school.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe launch among others highlighted child marriage mitigation interventions in the light of the increasing trends in child marriages and this is one of the primary goals of Mama Africa Foundation,\u201d said Natasha.<\/p>\n
She said through Dignity Project, Mama Africa Foundation wants school going girls in rural and peri-urban areas to have access to sanitary materials.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Mama Africa we have already designed underwear and reusable pads for primary and secondary school students. These sanitary pads will be made from natural and chemical free materials,\u201d said Natasha.<\/p>\n
She further said that the project plans to provide an ultimate pack containing 10 reusable sanitary pads and other materials to the girls.<\/p>\n
