{"id":13553,"date":"2015-12-08T08:30:19","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T06:30:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13553"},"modified":"2015-12-08T08:30:19","modified_gmt":"2015-12-08T06:30:19","slug":"limbe-leaf-hands-over-k36-2m-school-blocks-in-lilongwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/08\/limbe-leaf-hands-over-k36-2m-school-blocks-in-lilongwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Limbe Leaf hands over K36.2m school blocks in Lilongwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi&#8217;s Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company Limited on Friday handed over to the community two school blocks and desks worth K36.2 million at Mwakhundi Primary School in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the function, Limbe Leaf managing director Rodney Hagger said the company decided to construct the school blocks to address the gap that Mwakhundi School was experiencing and hoped that the classrooms and desks would bring significant changes both to enrolment and learning outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>He said Limbe Leaf is also constructing classrooms and teachers houses at Majiga Primary school in the north and will renovate Chatata Primary in Lilongwe at a cost of K102 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in addition to other social responsibility projects in areas of health sector and sports,\u201d said Hagger.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the classrooms on behalf of Minister of Education, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and water Development Allan Chiyembekeza thanked Limbe Leaf for the new classroom blocks and desks saying they will improve learning environment at the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am particularly happy that children from this area will be encouraged to go to school and not work in tobacco farms.
