Tarang Makhecha and Roza Mbilizi underlined their credentials to win titles in the Toyota Malawi golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Competing in the men\u2019s category, Makhecha, playing off handicap 10, posted 40 points to win the championship.<\/p>\n
He received a Samsung 32HDR Led TV screen and trophy for emerging champion.<\/p>\n
Makhecha scored 20 points on the front nine and similar points on back.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is my first title this year. I have been getting subsidiary prizes. This time I was focused and I enjoyed my golf,\u201d said the men\u2019s champion.<\/p>\n
Former BSC golf captain, John Gift Mwakhwawa, playing off handicap 11, finished on second position with 39 points.<\/p>\n
Mwakhwawa got a Hisense bar fridge and a trophy.<\/p>\n
Furkani Gani, with 38 points, finished third and he received a Samsung home theatre plus a trophy.<\/p>\n
Charles Merrick, playing off handicap 10, ended on fourth with 37 points and he got a Logik juice maker.<\/p>\n
Emmanuel Banda won the nearest to the pin in men\u2019s section while Nathan Nkhata won the longest drive. The pair each got Nike golf balls.<\/p>\n
Bashir Sherrif was declared the seniors\u2019 champion.<\/p>\n
In the ladies category, Mbilizi showcased rare golfing skills on front nine where she collected 19 points, but struggled on back when she got 13.<\/p>\n
However, 32 points were enough to see her win the ladies\u2019 title.<\/p>\n
Carol Banda ended on second position while Doreen Kavala was third.<\/p>\n
The ladies top golfers received similar prizes to what the men got.<\/p>\n
Toyota Malawi managing director, Arvinder Reel, said they wanted to interact with their clients.<\/p>\n
