Sunbird Sand Music Festival organisers have said this year\u2019s event which saw them bringing on board Jamaican musician Busy Signal, has challenged them to do more.<\/p>\n
Sand Music Director, Lucius Banda popularly known as Soldier, said they are not resting in their activities ahead of the 2016 festival.<\/p>\n
Lucius said this year they are also set to bring another top artist but could not disclose the name.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Sunbird Sand Music Festival we have now rebranded and we are no longer the same.<\/p>\n
The hosting of Busy Signal was historical whose performance has attracted the attention of other Jamaican artists, who have been calling us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
While not willing to reveal the name of the artist set to headline the 2016 event, Lucius revealed that they are bringing renowned Caribbean singer and song writer Judy Boucher.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to bring her during Valentine Day but she is tied up so we have settled for end April. This is a special show in which we want to give an audience of the older generation a treat.<\/p>\n
It will be a night where we will have an age restriction and we want to call it Love to Love Night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lucius, who is also set to perform in Europe in early April, said this is a show which is aimed at rekindling memories of the good old days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have already satisfied the younger generation with South Africa\u2019s Trademark featuring Zinhle Ngidi during the \u2018Thank You\u2019 Parties so we did not want to leave out the older generation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Born in St Vincent in the Caribbean, Boucher, a reggae and R&B singer released her first solo song titled \u2018Dreaming of a Little Island,\u2019 which was a hit in the reggae charts in 1985.<\/p>\n
However, Boucher is best known for her international hit single \u2018Can\u2019t Be With You Tonight,\u2019 which reached number two in the UK singles chart in 1987.<\/p>\n
She has released several albums and they include Can\u2019t Be With You Tonight, Tears on my Pillow, The Best of Judy Boucher which was released in South Africa <\/em>and Take Me As I am. <\/em><\/p>\n According to Lucius, they are likely to hold the show at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Sunbird Sand Music Festival organisers have said this year\u2019s event which saw them bringing on board Jamaican musician Busy Signal, has challenged them to do more.
