{"id":13199,"date":"2015-12-03T07:23:36","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T07:23:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13199"},"modified":"2015-12-03T07:23:36","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T07:23:36","slug":"press-corp-companies-commemorate-world-aids-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/03\/press-corp-companies-commemorate-world-aids-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Press Corp. companies commemorate World Aids Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Companies under the Press Corporation Limited (PCL) group on Tuesday joined Malawi and the rest of the world in commemorating World Aids Day during a ceremony which took place in Blantyre under the theme \u201cPress Group Towards 90:90:90\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The commemorations were characterised by speeches, poetry, as well as talk on cancer by oncologist Dr Leo Masamba.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the event, PCL group operations executive, Pius Mulipa, said HIV and Aids has had a huge bearing business and that this is the reason why the private sector should take a leading role in the management of HIV\/Aids in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/press.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-13204 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/press-300x157.png\" alt=\"press\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>\u201cWhen people are sick, they don\u2019t come to work. When their relatives are sick, their concentration at work goes down. That is why we at Press have made it a policy to ensure that we have an HIV policy for our companies,\u201d said Mulipa.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged members of staff and their families to get tested so that they know their HIV status.<\/p>\n<p>Mulipa said knowing one\u2019s HIV status helps in planning well for one\u2019s life and helps people to rush for medical attention once they fall sick.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Chuka from the Malawi Business Coalition against Aids (MBCA) hailed PCL for the commemoration.<\/p>\n<p>He underscored the need for companies to have HIV policies in the workplace to help fight the pandemic better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Companies under the Press Corporation Limited (PCL) group on Tuesday joined Malawi and the rest of the world in commemorating World Aids Day during a ceremony which took place in Blantyre under the theme \u201cPress Group Towards 90:90:90\u201d.
