Football Association of Malawi (Fam) presidential aspirant, Willy Yabwanya Phiri, will Friday launch his manifesto for the December 12 elections at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
According to information from his camp, the launch is expected to start at 8:30 am.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody is invited to the launch of Yabwanya\u2019s manifesto. Let people come and hear ideas that will redefine Malawi football,\u201d reads a statement from Yabwanya\u2019s team.<\/p>\n
In his manifesto titled \u2018A Roadmap to Redefine Malawi\u2019s Football Destiny\u2019, Yabwanya tackles issues such as changing the structure of Malawi football to improve all sectors of football, including women\u2019s football.<\/p>\n
Yabwanya is also advocating for grassroots development, player development, football literacy and numeracy programs, women\u2019s football development, community coaching courses and referee courses at schools.<\/p>\n
The Karonga United owner will further highlight the barriers that have stood in the way of Malawi football development.<\/p>\n
Among his strategies for innovation and commercial success, Yabwanya seeks to increase subventions all Fam\u2019s nine affiliates get from K150,000 to K1 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will also introduce electronic ticketing and electronic turnstile to remove the human element at the gate. This is the only way to curb gate revenue fraud and curtail corruption. I will also ensure that I take a lead to combating fraud and corruption to protect the integrity of the game and maximise revenue turn over,\u201d Yabwanya says in his manifesto.<\/p>\n
Yabwanya says he will also fight for players\u2019 welfare and work on improving the relationship between Fam and Super League of Malawi (Sulom).<\/p>\n
Above all, Yabwanya said he would establish the Willy Yabwanya Foundation to help players who want to go back to school. The aim is to minimise the number of players that struggle after football.<\/p>\n
