Singer and guitarist Faith Mussa and Lawi real name Francis Phiri will on Saturday come face to face with other Malawian artists during a concert that will light up the official opening of the Malawi Cultural Centre in Kenya.<\/p>\n
The two musicians have since arrived in Kenya ahead of the concert. Mussa and Lawi will share the stage with the country\u2019s Kenya based artists Marco Sadik and veteran gospel singer Chrissie Kamthunzi and a Malawi student and musician Dan Chikhwaza.<\/p>\n
Lawi, who performed at M Theatre in Blantyre last Sunday, said he was happy to perform in Kenya with his band.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is our chance to show what Malawi is made up of in terms of music. We are ready and prepared and most importantly we are looking at networking with other artists,\u201d said the \u2018Amaona Kuchedwa,\u2019 creator.<\/p>\n
Mussa said it was an honour for him to perform at the official opening of the cultural centre adding that this will give him a chance to showcase some of the traditional tunes he has written for his new album.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very important concert and I am excited because it\u2019s coming barely a month since I performed in the US with Peter Mawanga. US was an eye opener but now Kenya will be my showcasing lab,\u201d said Mussa, who will drop his new album next year.<\/p>\n
The singer and guitarist, who spiced up fellow musician Patience Namadingo\u2019s launch last weekend, revealed that he will be performing alone playing several instruments adding that this is a challenge for him worth pursuing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI should commend the Malawi High Commission to Kenya for recognising me and also for coming up with this initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think we have a Malawi Cultural Centre anywhere in the world apart from Malawi and so the office has shown they want to promote Malawi in Kenya,\u201d said the \u2018Desperate,\u2019 hit maker.<\/p>\n
