{"id":13162,"date":"2015-12-03T06:50:52","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T06:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13162"},"modified":"2015-12-03T06:50:52","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T06:50:52","slug":"soldier-hails-blacks-for-evison-matafale-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/03\/soldier-hails-blacks-for-evison-matafale-memorial\/","title":{"rendered":"Soldier hails Blacks for Evison Matafale memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the successful musicians in the country Lucius Banda also known as Soldier on Friday hailed reggae group Black Missionaries for celebrating the lives of late Evison Matafale and other fallen heroes.<\/p>\n<p>Lucius said this during a pre-memorial show organised by Entertainers Promotions at Motel Paradise in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The pre-memori al attracted an impressive audience and saw performances from Black Missionaries, Lucius and his Zembani Band and Ben Mankhamba.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should commend my brothers Black Missionaries for sustaining the memorial show. It\u2019s good to celebrate the lives of our fellow artists who helped develop music in the country,\u201d said Lucius.<\/p>\n<p>He added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not easy to put this together but they have maintained it and I salute them for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The musician famed for hits such as \u2018Mabala,\u2019 and \u2018Son of the Poor Man,\u2019 said late Matafale was a powerful musician who used his talent to speak about the several ills and that he also took time out to speak for the voiceless.<\/p>\n<p>Matafale died on November 27, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>A founder of Black Missionaries, he rose to become one of the country\u2019s favourite musicians by 2000 through the release of his debut album, Kuyimba 1, in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Lucius also appreciated the talents of late Musamude and Gift Fumulani who died in 2008 and 2009 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Black Missionaries lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani also hailed Lucius for his performance at the pre-memorial and also commended Entertainers Promotions for hyping up the memorial show through the pre-memorial concert.<\/p>\n<p>During the pre-memorial, Anjiru also took time to announce to the audience that he has a baby boy who surprisingly was born on the day late Matafale died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to inform you that the Black Missionaries family has a new member, who was born on the day late Matafale died.
