{"id":13152,"date":"2015-12-02T18:16:53","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T18:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=13152"},"modified":"2015-12-02T18:16:53","modified_gmt":"2015-12-02T18:16:53","slug":"zulu-king-goodwill-zwelithini-not-guilty-of-fuelling-anti-foreigner-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/12\/02\/zulu-king-goodwill-zwelithini-not-guilty-of-fuelling-anti-foreigner-attacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini &#8216;not guilty&#8217; of fuelling anti-foreigner attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A preliminary investigation in South Africa has cleared the powerful Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini of inciting the anti-foreigner violence that swept through the country earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The king had not made a call to arms, but was guilty of making \u201churtful and harmful\u201d comments against foreigners, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) said in a preliminary report.<\/p>\n<p>King Zwelithini said at a rally in March that the government should &#8220;help us clean our land of lice&#8221;, and that &#8220;all foreigners should take their baggage and be sent back&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/331c0ee5-7f18-4077-a951-c5245e973262.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-13153 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/331c0ee5-7f18-4077-a951-c5245e973262-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"331c0ee5-7f18-4077-a951-c5245e973262\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>&#8220;There can be little argument against the conclusion that a public expression by a public figure with moral authority to the effect that foreigners should pack their bags and leave, would leave foreign nationals diminished in their human dignity,&#8221; the HRC said.<\/p>\n<p>The monarch should either publicly apologise to foreign nationals or enter into a &#8220;private mediate settlement&#8221; to resolve the dispute or failing that he could be referred to the Equality Court, said the statutory body, which investigates rights abuses in South Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A preliminary investigation in South Africa has cleared the powerful Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini of inciting the anti-foreigner violence that swept through the country earlier this year.
