{"id":12800,"date":"2015-11-27T10:12:08","date_gmt":"2015-11-27T10:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=12800"},"modified":"2015-11-27T10:12:08","modified_gmt":"2015-11-27T10:12:08","slug":"banned-lions-players-earmarked-for-next-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/11\/27\/banned-lions-players-earmarked-for-next-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Banned Lions players earmarked for next season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Banned Red Lions players will start playing TNM Super League games next season despite serving their suspension, the club has disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Six players namely: Boniface Kaulesi, Thomas Makombwa, Sunganani Msiska, George Haule, Matthews Simbeyi and William Chiumia were supposed to bounce back in action last month following the expiry of their ban.<\/p>\n<p>The players and Lions are yet to pay fines to enable them take part in competitive games.<\/p>\n<p>The players were suspended following the violence that marred the Super League game between Lions and Fisd Wizards at Kamuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Lions treasurer, Wakisa Kaisi speaking to <em>Times Radio<\/em>, said they were consulting Sulom on how best to pay the fine which is about K2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Kaisi said Lions asked Sulom to start deducting money from the gate collections during their remaining games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have written a letter to Sulom to start deducting the amount they fined us. At the moment we have no plans to use these players this season as the league is going to an end. We were supposed to pay Sulom last month but we failed because we don\u2019t have money. So we have decided as a club to start using these players next season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sulom general secretary, Williams Banda, said the issue was tricky and it requires both parties to discuss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur treasurer will sort it out but it is true that Reds officials phoned us about their commitment,\u201d said Banda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Banned Red Lions players will start playing TNM Super League games next season despite serving their suspension, the club has disclosed.
