Malawi \u00a0national football team striker, Chiukepo Msowoya, says he is relieved that the Flames snatched a 2-1 win over Sudan in a 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup group C match at Bahir Dar in Ethiopia on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were subjected to so much pressure because we sat so deep, hence got exposed every time we made a slight mistake. It was only after the coach told us to advance a little high up the pitch that we improved,\u201d Msowoya said in a post-match interview.<\/p>\n
The in-form striker, who has scored two goals in the last four games he has featured under coach Ernest Mtawali, was five minutes away from being a hero-turned-villain after handling the ball on the goal-mouth to gift Sudan a penalty in the 85th minute at Bahir Dar Stadium.<\/p>\n
To Msowoya\u2019s utter relief, goalkeeper Simplex Nthala saved Sudan\u2019s Altif Khalid\u2019s penalty to earn the Flames a winning start.<\/p>\n
It was a dramatic turn of events for Msowoya who had snatched what turned to be a winner for Malawi in the 28th minute after Dalitso Sailesi had opened the scoring in the 12th minute.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt hurt so much imagining that having worked so hard for the second goal, I was going to cost my team a win. Any way, it is all part of the game. My wish is that we should go all the way to the quarter-finals and even the final,\u201d Msowoya said.<\/p>\n
Following the win, Malawi went second in the group, behind South Sudan, who lead on goal aggregate after beating Djibouti 2-0 in an earlier match on Monday at the same stadium.<\/p>\n
