{"id":12547,"date":"2015-11-24T07:44:15","date_gmt":"2015-11-24T07:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=12547"},"modified":"2015-11-24T07:44:15","modified_gmt":"2015-11-24T07:44:15","slug":"political-parties-commend-nice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/11\/24\/political-parties-commend-nice\/","title":{"rendered":"Political parties commend Nice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Political parties in Mchinji have commended the National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) for working with various political groups in the district without taking sides.<\/p>\n<p>District governors for Malawi Congress Party (MCP), People\u2019s Party (PP), Alliance for Democracy (Aford), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF) hailed Nice for uniting them despite their political affiliations.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the launch of the by-election in Mtope Ward at Chiosya, MCP District Governor, Crispin Banda, applauded Nice for bringing the parties together.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec\u2019s) Reverend Chinkwita Phiri\u2019s plea for peace during the by-election period, Banda reiterated that political parties in the district are united.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Commissioner, here in Mchinji, as leaders of political parties we are united. As you can observe, we are sitting together here not just to deceive you but to show you that we are united. But in all this we commend Nice for the well job they are doing\u201d, said Banda.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, DPP District Governor Ignasio Tembo said Nice is not affiliated to any party, hence its electoral messages are well balanced and motivating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNice is such an organisation that is with us all the time, during elections or indeed after elections. They bring leaders of different parties together and encourage us to pursue our development goals as one,\u201d said Tembo.<\/p>\n<p>PP District Governor Wilfred Nyirenda, Aford\u2019s Nicholus Kamoto and UDF\u2019s Dorothy Joseph also hailed Nice for minimizing political conflicts in the district.<\/p>\n<p>Mchinji District Nice Civic Education Officer, Ruben Nyirenda, acknowledged the sentiments from the political parties, saying their efforts are bearing fruits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe engage them in dialogues each and every time when there are issues and when there are no issues. We build capacity for political parties which helps us to enhance co-existence of political parties which prevents misunderstandings among the parties,\u201d said Nyirenda.<\/p>\n<p>Mec organised the meeting to mark the beginning of political processes in preparation for the by-election scheduled for December 22, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The election follows the death of Councillor John Msumatiza in July this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Political parties in Mchinji have commended the National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) for working with various political groups in the district without taking sides.
