{"id":12323,"date":"2015-11-20T08:32:18","date_gmt":"2015-11-20T08:32:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=12323"},"modified":"2015-11-20T08:32:18","modified_gmt":"2015-11-20T08:32:18","slug":"writer-alfred-msadala-set-to-launch-new-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/11\/20\/writer-alfred-msadala-set-to-launch-new-book\/","title":{"rendered":"Writer Alfred Msadala set to launch new book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After bringing forth a new book last year titled \u2018<em>A Ragged Portfolio of My Portrait<\/em>, <em>A Rumbling Journey Towards the Joys of Writing Memoirs\u2019, <\/em>renowned writer Alfred Msadala is back with a new book titled <em>War Drums are beating: Discourses of the anthill. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Msadala, who also writes <em>Literary Talk <\/em>column in <em>The Sunday Times, <\/em>said the new book will be launched next Thursday at Blantyre Sports Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at my previous book it was all about my personal story but this new book I have written about other writers both local and international who I have read their works and learned from them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While he took close to 10 years working on his previous book, Msadala said the new book has taken him almost 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been writing in the newspapers concerning several writers but I thought I should dig deeper and do more hence coming up with this project,\u201d said Msadala.<\/p>\n<p>The writer said writing is now part of his life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first I took writing as just a hobby but now it is part of my life and so I am always thinking of writing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Msadala has a heart for writing; he has written several works but he continues to chronicle different stories for readers.<\/p>\n<p>While some have deemed writing as a difficult trade, Msadala has loved it since he was young and his writings have moved a journey from writing without experience where he had had to be criticised to writing with experience but still more being criticised.<\/p>\n<p>Msadala is Book Publishers Association of Malawi (Bpam) president.<\/p>\n<p>And as he launches his book next Thursday, Msadala speaks volumes of his works and that as long as he lives, he will continue to give Malawians something to read.<\/p>\n<p>Other books to his credit include <em>The Forum Annexe (2014), Church of Christ the King at 50 <\/em>(edited) 2012., <em>Ten Tidal Waves (2012), Sprouts of Dowa Hills <\/em>(edited) (2011), <em>Mangadzi was Here and Other Stories <\/em>(co-edited with Zondiwe Mbano) 2011, <em>Norwegian Literature \u2013 a Malawian Appraisal <\/em>(2004), <em>Neighbour\u2019s Wife and Other Stories from Malawi <\/em>(edited) (2002), <em>We Lost Track of Ausi <\/em>(2000), <em>Destined for Great Things <\/em>(1999), <em>One Steve Chimombo (1996) <\/em>and <em>Reminiscence (1996). <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Msadala was born on October 4, 1956 and hails from Liwewe Village, Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After bringing forth a new book last year titled \u2018A Ragged Portfolio of My Portrait, A Rumbling Journey Towards the Joys of Writing Memoirs\u2019, renowned writer Alfred Msadala is back with a new book titled War Drums are beating: Discourses of the anthill.
