One of the winners in the TNM Ufulu @ 50 promotion has constructed a teacher\u2019s house at Magogo Junior Primary School in Mzimba with his K2 million prize.<\/p>\n
The winner, 45-year old farmer Sungani Mkandawire, emerged as one of the 50 winners of a K2 million prize in the TNM Ufulu@50 promotion which the company held in 2014 as part of Malawi\u2019s 50th independence anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n
Mkandawire said he decided to build the house to help ease the shortage of teachers\u2019 houses at his villages school.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am happy that through TNM\u2019s Ufulu @50 promotion, I have been able to make a difference by providing our teachers with a decent house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The new house brings to three the number of permanent houses at the school where there are only two qualified and two trainee teachers. The school is located 80 km away from Mzimba boma and is close to Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve.<\/p>\n
Magogo Primary School head teacher Witman Makwawa said the new house will enable the school bring one more additional qualified teacher to the school.<\/p>\n
He also said the house has added beauty to the school and thanked Mkandawire for considering it for the donation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very remote area and needs things like decent houses to encourage teachers to stay here,\u201d said Makwawa.<\/p>\n
TNM regional distribution manager for the north, Yamikani Bakuwa, said the company was satisfied with the projects that have been handed over so far as they have spread across all social aspects of the society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
