{"id":12145,"date":"2015-11-17T08:11:49","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T08:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=12145"},"modified":"2015-11-17T08:11:49","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T08:11:49","slug":"toyota-malawi-equips-st-pius-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/11\/17\/toyota-malawi-equips-st-pius-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota Malawi equips St Pius primary school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>T<\/strong>oyota Malawi has donated road traffic safety items worth K2.5 million to St. Pius Boys Primary School and St. Pius Girls Primary School in Blantyre to help improve the safety of children who go to the schools.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking when he presented the donation, Toyota Malawi managing director, Arvinder Reel, said the company is committed to safeguard the welfare of all road users in Malawi, especially school going children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe usually partner with communities around us in various ways and at the moment, we would like to increase awareness of road safety and reduce road traffic accidents and mortality amongst road users in Malawi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the donation was also part of Toyata Malawi\u2019s corporate social responsibility programme targeting education and safety sector and that it will take the campaign to other primary school in Lilongwe and Mzuzu cities respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are targeting the safety of primary school students because they are the future of our country and they need all the support and protection,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Guest of honour at the function Mayor Noel Chalamanda of Blantyre city commended Toyota Malawi for the gesture saying this is exactly what the country needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many accidents on the roads and children need to be protected when they are going to and from school,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Among others, Toyota Malawi onated mobile road signs, reflective vests, and zebra crossing painting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toyota Malawi has donated road traffic safety items worth K2.5 million to St. Pius Boys Primary School and St. Pius Girls Primary School in Blantyre to help improve the safety of children who go to the schools.
