A member of Jamaican reggae group Morgan Heritage set to perform in the country next month Memmalatel Morgan better known as Mr Mojo arrived in the country Thursday afternoon through Kamuzu International Airport(KIA) in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
According to Born Afrikan Productions representative Mphatso Chaluluka, the percussionist and vocalist is in the country to promote the concert to be held on December 27 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
However, Chaluluka was quick to say that they applied for Silver Stadium but they are still waiting for approval.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr Mojo is here, the visit is to promote the concert and check the venue as well as get the feel of Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa,\u201d said Chaluluka.<\/p>\n
He said that Mr Mojo will be in the country for three days before leaving tomorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of Born Afrikan Productions he will also donate soccer balls to Chipasula School on Friday (today) and also hold a press conference,\u201d said Chaluluka.<\/p>\n
Morgan Heritage will perform in the country courtesy of Born Afrikan Productions led by the country\u2019s South Africa-based reggae artist Born Afrikan real name Nelson Shaba.<\/p>\n
Chaluluka said Mr Mojo arrived in the country yesterday with Born Afrikan.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also optimistic that Malawians will not be skeptical about the concert with Mr Mojos visit. As Born Afrikan Productions, we will continue to bring into the country the best in live music shows. We are just asking for support from the corporate world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chaluluka also called on people to patronise this concert and be part of the history.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the members of Morgan Heritage will come including Roy \u2018Gramps\u2019 Morgan\u2019s son who will kick-start this massive concert,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Born Afrikan Productions has shown its seriousness when it comes to bringing artists into the country, apart from Morgan Heritage, the company has already brought into the country Jamaican musicians Fantan Mojah and Luciano.<\/p>\n
Morgan Heritage was formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter \u2018Peetah\u2019 Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy \u2018Gramps\u2019 Morgan, Nakhamyah \u2018Lukes\u2019 Morgan and Mr. Mojo.<\/p>\n
In two decades, they have had a number of successful reggae albums which include Miracles, Protect Us Jah, One Calling, Don\u2019t Haffi Dread <\/em>and Morgan Heritage Family <\/em>and Friends Volume One. <\/em><\/p>\n Malawi seems to have been blessed this year as another Jamaican dancehall musician Busy Signal performed at the Sunbird Sand Music Festival in Salima recently.<\/p>\n There are other top artists also set to perform in the country next month and they include Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, coming courtesy of Qoncept Creatives and US group Dru Hill courtesy of Umodzi Park.<\/p>\n Basketmouth and Dru Hill will perform on December 6 and December 12 in Lilongwe respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A member of Jamaican reggae group Morgan Heritage set to perform in the country next month Memmalatel Morgan better known as Mr Mojo arrived in the country Thursday afternoon through Kamuzu International Airport(KIA) in Lilongwe.
