{"id":11462,"date":"2015-11-04T09:16:49","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T09:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=11462"},"modified":"2015-11-04T09:16:49","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T09:16:49","slug":"illovo-in-malaria-open-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/11\/04\/illovo-in-malaria-open-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Illovo in malaria open day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Illovo Sugar Malawi Nchalo Estates on Saturday conducted a malaria open day at Mwanza Primary School within its Nchalo estates in Chikwawa district.<\/p>\n<p>The open day was held under the theme, \u2018Invest in the future, defeat malaria\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Illovo Sugar Malawi\u2019s company\u2019s doctor Albert Mkumbwa said the Mwanza area has this year reported high cases of malaria as compared to other areas within the estate.<\/p>\n<p>He said the malaria day was aimed at sensitising Illovo staff on the importance of prevention of malaria by, among other things, using mosquito nets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe noted that the high cases of malaria are as a result of lack of awareness on the usage of mosquito nets. We have now done an awareness campaign for one week and we hope to see positive results,\u201d said Mkumbwa.<\/p>\n<p>Chikwawa DHO Amber Majidu said the district as a whole faces high malaria cases because of the Shire River.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDistribution of malaria in the district follows the Shire River.
