Local middle-weight champion, Felix Mwamaso and former champion Alick Mwenda, have stepped up preparations for next week\u2019s title fight at Lilongwe Community Centre.<\/p>\n
This will be their third meeting this year. Mwamaso won the first fight to snatch the middleweight title from Mwenda, who eventually claimed victory in the second fight.<\/p>\n
The re-match was a non-title contest. This time, Mwenda said he would like to reclaim the belt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to go into the specifics of the first fight. I strongly feel I won the contest. Even though I won the second fight, I am still bitter that I lost the belt under questionable circumstances. Now, I want to revenge and reclaim the belt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwenda, 28, said he was training at Malawi Armed Forces College in Salima to enhance his chances of winning.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, I won the second fight but I noticed some areas that needed polishing up, hence camping in Salima,\u201d said the boxer who has fought 21 times, winning 15 and losing six.<\/p>\n
On his part, Mwamaso said he was finalising preparations in his quest to defend the belt.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust because he won the second fight, which was a non-title does not mean that he will win the next fight. I will approach the title fight differently, and that is what I have been doing lately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwamaso , 23, has 16 fights, winning 13 times and losing thrice.<\/p>\n
New Dawn Boxing Promotions managing director, Mike Chimaliza, said they have leveled the playing field by organising the re-match.<\/p>\n
