Weight-lifting and Body-building Association of Malawi (WBAM) has engaged five reputable judges to handle this year\u2019s Mr. Malawi Body-building contest at Mkango Lodge, Blantyre on Saturday.<\/p>\n
WBAM general secretary, Harold Mwayang\u2019ana, said Dr. Wilson Mandala and Emmanuel Gama are among the officials to handle the contest.<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Mandala is well-known in body-building circles, and he has contributed a lot to the sport. Similarly, Gama is respected in body-building and he once represented the country at the 2008 World Championship in Dubai,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwayang\u2019ana said body-builders were given time to prepare for the contest and they were expecting stiff competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far, about 30 body-builders have registered. Before the actual contest, we will screen them to see if they qualify for the competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwayang\u2019ana said after the body-building contest, patrons will enjoy a gig by Black Missionaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have deliberately hired Black Missionaries so that they should entertain people. The mood will help winners celebrate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis time, only paid-up body-builders will be allowed to take part in the Mr. Malawi contest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each body-builder is required to pay an annual membership fee of K2,400.<\/p>\n
Henry Master is the defending champion, whereas Brown Gondwe finished second with Yasin Ichocho Suwedi being third in last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
