Jamaican musician Busy Signal on Saturday performed in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
Busy Signal, famed for hits such as \u2018Reggae Music Again,\u2019 is expected to perform at the Sunbird Sand Music Festival on October 31 at the Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima.<\/p>\n
The musician tweeted on Friday that he had arrived safely in Zimbabwe ahead of the performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cReaching for my carry on, give thanks reach in safe. Zimbabwe now\u2026. Malawi next!!! #Africa#Motherland,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Local musician Wendy Harawa left the country on Saturday for Zimbabwe to watch Busy Signal\u2019s performance as well as make other arrangements.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was great, the show sold out and the performance was massive. He got on stage at around 12:48pm and performed non-stop until around past 4am. Malawians should expect the best performance from him,\u201d said the dancing queen, who was expected back home yesterday.<\/p>\n
Born Glendale Goshia Gordon on January 24, 1982, the Jamaican dancehall musician was given the name Busy Signal by his friends because he is extremely busy.<\/p>\n
BBC Music ranked his \u2018Reggae Music Again\u2019 number seven on their Top 25 Albums of 2012 listing.<\/p>\n
Sand Music Director Lucius Banda said all was set for the festival which will start on October 30 through to November 1.<\/p>\n
He also said that Busy Signal will arrive in the country on Wednesday and that they will give him a Warm Heart of Africa welcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ready, security will be tight, it will be 24\/7 performances and we have three stages with one which will be the main.<\/p>\n
People should not only target Busy Signal on October 31 but we have a lot of artists performing starting on October 30,\u201d said Lucius, popularly known as Soldier.<\/p>\n
Lucius said with many Malawians doubting the presence of Busy Signal following past experiences of failure by local organisers to bring other foreign artists, the musician said they understand Malawians predicament.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know the situation Malawians are in and we understand but Busy Signal will be there at the festival and he even confirmed this in a video,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The musician has since cautioned people from buying fake tickets saying there are reports making rounds that some people are selling tickets at K10,000 for the three days.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople should watch out, we are not selling tickets for K10,000. People can get our tickets in the designated places such as Puma shops.<\/p>\n
The tickets are selling at K20,000 for the three-day package but for those who buy through National Bank of Malawi\u2019s MO626, you buy it at K18,000 Airtel Money,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
