The Scottish Government has said it will continue pumping more aid to Malawi in order to alleviate challenges the country faces.<\/p>\n
Scottish Minister for Europe and International Development Humza Yousaf, who is in the country told The Daily Times<\/em>, on Thursday, that he was impressed by the way Malawi is handling projects his government supports.<\/p>\n \u201cI was touched when I visited the College of Medicine, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and some projects in the country. I have seen the impact our presence has on the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Yousaf said his government is interested in transferring skills to Malawians.<\/p>\n \u201cI was told that the country has one psychiatrist, for instance. We are looking at bringing specialists to train more practitioners than send a few Malawians to Scotland,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Yousaf took advantage of his visit to Times Group head office to praise the Malawi media for its contribution towards democracy.<\/p>\n \u201cI am impressed by the quality of journalists and growth of the Times Group. When I was here one and half years ago, The Daily Times <\/em>newspaper made extensive coverage of the Cashgate scandal.<\/p>\n \u201cThis time around, I have seen that you are professionally playing your watchdog role,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Times Group Managing Director Leonnard Chikadya expressed gratitude to the Scottish Minister for paying a courtesy call and promised that his company will continue serving the best interest of the public despite the ailing economy in which it operates.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are now a 360 degrees media house. We have the print, television and radio.
